The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine calls for boosting Adoption of the Law to regulate the Rights of Deported Nations

Within the scope of the working visit to Crimea, the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine called for boosting adoption of the Law to regulate the rights of deported nations.

According to V.Lytvyn, a round table discussion "On the Prospects of Legal Regulation in the Field of Restoration of Rights of the Persons deported on the Grounds of Nationality" was held at the Parliament on 8 April. The round table discussion was organized by the Committee on Human Rights, National Minorities and International Relations.  The participants of the discussion debated the Bill "On Restoration of Rights of Persons deported on the Grounds of Nationality" (Reg. No.3142) submitted by the Cabinet of Ministers.

V.Lytvyn deems necessary to forward the Bill for further elaboration to prevent the President´s veto imposed on a similar Law in 2004. "Therefore, it is necessary to reduce political aspects of the Bill and enhance the humanitarian ones, - he stated. The land issue is the most crucial matter for the deported".

The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine also stated that last week, meeting Knut Vollebaek, OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities, he received proposals of the OSCE concerning legislative acts that regulated national issues.
